A programme of seminars that will see world-class speakers from right across the piste challenge current thinking and share their vision and experience. Birmingham Made Me Design Expo 2013 aims to challenge and excite through a thought-provoking
and stimulating policy led agenda. Top notch speakers from business and design, digital and new media, fashion, retail and lifestyle, lifescience and engineering, all the areas where Birmingham excels as a global city of innovation, presenting on design, innovation, design thinking to drive city-region and business performance. Also, TEDxBrum is a day of intense stimulation and provocation.
Thought leaders including John Cridland, Director General, CBI, Simon Walker, Director General, IoD, John Mathers, Chief Executive, Design Council, John Longworth, Director General British Chambers of Commerce will join us in Birmingham with world-leading academics and thinkers including Prof Roberto Verganti, Politechnico di Milano, Prof Simon Bolton, Birmingham Institute of Art & Design, Dr James Moultrie, Cambridge University with the Universities of Birmingham, Aston, Coventry, Warwick and Wolverhampton all proposing solutions for Birmingham to move forward. This is in the context of Birmingham as an eminent and internationally respected Design City.
Think tanks on hand to add their views and voices – Centre for Cities, The Work Foundation, Big Innovation Centre, IPPR – presenting ideas on progressive economic models, regional devolution and entrepreneurship, City region agglomerations, cross innovation, developing design and innovation eco-systems – the ways and means of getting our City region economy seriously moving again to create jobs, wealth and lead investment for the future.
