Transport Tech Hack Weekend

Friday, October 17th, 2014

Centro has partnered up with Oxygen Startups to run the INVOLVE Hack Weekend event on 17th – 19th October 2014, Birmingham UK.

About the Hack Challenge

The Hack Weekend Challenge is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and made possible by the INTERREG 4C Programme of the European Union aimed at providing funding for interregional cooperation across Europe. INVOLVE is a three-year project funded under the European Commission’s INTERREG 4C programme. 10 regions will exchange good practices about how to actively involve the private sector in sustainable transport policy and actions. The lead partner is traffiQ, the Public Transport Authority for Frankfurt.

Transformation of the Transport and Travel Industry

Planes, trains, automobiles or bikes – have you ever used one and thought ‘this could be so much better’? Whether it’s the next Uber, Citymapper, or Boris Bike scheme, the travel and transport industry could do with a shake up.
The Oxygen Transport Tech weekend is a high-energy event that brings together doers, makers and disruptors together to create an app that disrupts the travel industry, in just 48 hours. You’ll pitch ideas, build a team and launch an app that changes the way people engage with transport. You’ll be joined by developers, designers, and expert mentors to help make your ideas a reality, in just one weekend.

Who is it for?

The Oxygen Transport Tech weekend is for anyone who wants to do something different; doers, makers, disruptors. The most important thing is that you’re up for a challenge and willing to try something new. You’re going to learn more in 48 hours than you’d ever read in a textbook. It’s hard work, but a lot of fun. Whether you’re into startups already, or have never been involved with apps before, this weekend will be good for you if:
You love hearing about or coming up with cool ideas for new apps
You have a day job but you’re wondering what else is out there
You enjoy learning and meeting interesting bright people
You want to stretch yourself, and get your brain thinking differently
You’re ready to put yourself to the test
