Design Council Summit to Birmingham Made Me Expo – first time in 70 years held outside London
Thursday 18th June Birmingham Made Me Design Expo, the BCU-led collaboration with industry, will welcome the Design Council to Birmingham Parkside, BCU’s new City Centre campus for their national Design Summit, Leading Business By Design.
The first time in 70 years that the Design Council has held this event outside London, Birmingham City Vice-Chancellor, Professor Cliff Allan, is delighted to welcome the event to our city.
He said, “Welcoming Design Council to Birmingham to focus on ways in which design can deliver competitive advantage in manufacturing is a positive development for our regional economy but also says so much about us as a University.
“Linking science and technology with creative innovation to practically improve user experience is what we aim to do in our teaching and learning as well as what the UK requires to secure competitive advantage.”
The Summit, highlighting how design and creativity, combined with new technologies, can support and drive innovation in the UK. The event aims to encourage manufacturers in all areas to employ design-led thinking.
Design Council Chief Executive, John Mathers, said, “We are pleased to hold our event at Birmingham City University as it understands the need to develop more practical insights into how design can deliver competitive advantage.”
